7 Advanced: Connecting Strava & Garmin via MCP

If you’d rather your AI read your live training history instead of you pasting in a CSV, you can connect your platforms directly using the Model Context Protocol (MCP). It’s a powerful step up — but it isn’t the focus of this guide, for a few important reasons.

Why we keep this section brief These integrations usually require a paid subscription (Strava and the recovery-data services aren’t free) or a degree of technical know-how to set up. Just as importantly, MCP connectors only work inside native AI assistants like Claude.ai or ChatGPT — they won’t function on aggregator platforms such as poe.com. If that’s your setup, stick with the copy-and-paste prompt method in Section 6. For everyone else, here’s the lay of the land.

The catch stays the same However you feed data to your AI coach, it can only see the numbers — pace, heart rate, mileage. It still can’t see how you actually run, which is exactly where most injuries hide.
